Scorn "Evanescence" LP15.00 euro £10.65 Scorn's finest hour bar none, the moment when the vision of ambient dub all came together into something hauntingly fresh and uncomfortably challenging. Spacious rhythms, dreamy spaced out passages and a thudding, omnipresent bass drone make this an all time Earache classic. 'Silver Rain Fell', 'Days Passed' and 'The End' all slumber past in perfect doom-dub fashion, lulling the listener into a place where the sounds might appear friendly, but the horror is only just beneath the surface. Ex Napalm Death men Nik Bullen and Mick Harris combine to their greatest effect on this, the perfect, pivotal Scorn album. |
